2017: Usufruct
Polly Moller Springhorn: flutes, voice
Tim Walters: electronics
Usufruct (YOO-zoo-fruckt) is the right of the people to harvest the fruits of common property. The duo Usufruct, consisting of flutist, composer, vocalist/improviser Polly Moller and computer musician Tim Walters, deconstructs, lovingly reassembles, and improvises around found texts and musical materials in the public domain.
Both members are based in Oakland and members of the art-rock band Reconnaissance Fly. Polly plays bass flute in Ghost in the House, and can be heard in their many concerts supporting their 2017 album, Second Sight. She has performed and recorded extensively with other musicians on their projects and as an improviser, including Amanda Chaudhary, Marielle Jakobsens, Tom Djll, Scott Rosenberg, Gino Robair, and John Shiurba. Tim has performed and recorded with Circular Firing Squad and Slaw, researched artificial stupidity with Shalmaneser, and recently released his second solo album, The Difficult Third Wish.
